Who Are We?

Hi, we are Natalie and Karen, workplace wellness consultants who were brought together by our passion for helping people to live healthier, happier lives.

 

Between us we have over 35 years of management experience in the corporate, consultancy and charity sectors before retraining as health and nutrition coaches.  So we thought, 'what if?' we could combine what we know now about behavioural change and health, fitness and wellbeing with our years of executive management experience to help make the workplace better for everyone?

Natalie Guyan

I initially spent 15 years in recruitment consultancy and executive search, representing leading blue chip construction companies such as Balfour Beatty, Skanska and Laing O'Rourke. This experience gave me first-hand knowledge as to why people leave their jobs and how costly it is for companies to recruit.

This stressful, target driven and largely sedentary lifestyle led to excess weight gain, that further escalated following 2 pregnancies whilst juggling career/mum life.

I originally struggled and it took 6 years to loose the weight. Let me tell you, it wasn't easy, with a constant contradiction of information.  However, through easy to maintain healthy habits I've maintained that original loss of 40kg and dropped a total of 8 dress sizes.

This personal journey inspired me to qualify in fitness, nutrition & health. It's my mission to help as many people as possible overcome the struggles that I once faced.

 

I have spent the last 5 years helping a diverse client base, who's working environments are often key to their fitness and nutrition habits.

My focus with happy workspace co. is to identify and implement company wide solutions that enable businesses to thrive through a healthier, happier workforce. Switching my hat from recruit to retain.

Karen Lobo-Morell

I spent 20 years of my career in London based pr, media and communications management roles, both in-house and in consultancy, for brands ranging from easyJet, Disneyland Paris and First Choice holidays to international development charity Christian Aid.

 

They were high pressure, deadline driven environments and it was not unusual to be on call 24 hours a day.  When I wanted to start a family the stress of the job prevented me from conceiving so I knew something had to change.

 

I ditched the daily two hour commute, gained my personal training and gp referral qualifications, alongside nutrition and lifestyle coaching and my level 2 certificate in awareness of mental health problems, and started my own health and fitness business.

Five years later I specialise in coaching people in their 40-60s, who often have health issues and demanding careers and home lives, to regain their strength, fitness and health. Developing healthy habits for mind and body are key to this process.

Some of my clients are themselves business owners and so I developed a programme for their staff to help them move better to avoid lower back issues and to think more proactively about their wellbeing.  This led me to think 'how can I help more people evolve their workplace to be a healthier place to be?' and so the happy workspace co. was born.
