Two way communication is key

Companies need to ensure that communication is two way, that when they ask for staff input, which should be on a regular basis, they actually listen and respond.

When staff feel listened to they feel respected and valued, when they are ignored the opposite is true.

BUT companies need to be mindful of communication overload, it's not fair or realistic to expect people to be available 24/7, boundaries need to be established and stuck to in order to reduce pressure and cognitive overload. This is particularly true for those who work from home, there needs to be a definition between office and home to promote balance and wellbeing.

Because when people are overwhelmed it's hard to make healthy choices in other areas of your life and everything suffers.

How many of us have worked for that person who never shuts off and expects you to be the same? The workaholic who wears stress as a badge of honour! Times have to change, the health of the workforce and business depends on it.
